DIVE
CENTER
has been operating in
Taganga, Santa Marta since 2000,
and has become the only authorised PADI RESORT and DAN BUSINESS MEMBER in the
area.
We
have 1 Course Director
and 2 instructors, who are highly qualified and have a wide range of
specialisations.We can give you specialised help and help you with any questions or problems.
We also have full time dive masters who guide you on
our fascinating dives.
All
Poseidon employees are qualified Emergency First Responders and
DAN oxygen providers.
As
a PADI RESORT,
in order to ensure the safety and satisfaction of divers (trainees,
experienced divers or instructors) we continually check that the air
quality in the tanks is clean and dry. Part
of this quality control is the regular taking of air samples which
are sent to the
USA
for analysis.
On
the 31st of march
2005 POSEIDON DIVE CENTER became
the only
PADI
GOLD PALM RESORT in TAGANGA –
SANTA MARTA, because of the
quality service and fulfil of the PADI
standards while teaching diving courses.
6 months later, on the 1st
of October 2005 POSEIDON
DIVE CENTER took another
step forward within the dive industry and we converted us into the ONLY
PADI GOLD PALM INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN
COLOMBIA !!!!!
Now we can teach divers, who want to quit their jobs, follow their
dreams and change their lifestyle directly in our resort here in Taganga and
become diving instructors.
In the 2006 edition of the “GUIA DE RUTAS POR COLOMBIA”, www.rutascolombia.com on
page 91, Departamiento del Magladena, POSEIDON DIVE CENTER is the
only dive school mentioned in the guidebook in the area around Santa
Marta.
In
April 2006 PADI sent
us a CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE RECOGNIZING THE WORK OF OUR COURSE DIRECTOR
AND THE STAFF OF POSEIDON DIVE CENTER DURING THE INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSES
IN 2005.
Our
Course Director Max and his IDC class of march 2006 en Bocas del Toro / Panama
was shown in THE UNDERSEA JOURNAL OF
PADI THIRD QUARTER 2006.
Due
to the support of PROEXPORT COLOMBIA it
became possible to rent a booth at DEMASHOW
2006 in Orlando, Florida with the
goal to promote COLOMBIA to
the dive professionals who participated in the show.

As
an addicional service we installed in November 2006 the use of NITROX
( ENRICHED AIR WITH MIXTURES FROM 32 UNTIL 36% OXYGEN). The
greatest adventure about diving with Nitrox is the longer No decompression limit
and you feel less tired after your dives. You can count with 23 scuba tanks
exclusively for Nitrox.
During
the month of November 2006 we received in Taganga travel journalists from England
and in December 06 / January 2007 they published a newspaper with travel reports
from the sites they have been visited in Colombia.
During
the peak season in January 2007 was published an article in the newspaper AVIANCA
No 22, THE COLOMBIAN AIRLINE aboute the
tourism and diving in Taganga.
In a German newspaper,
Sueddeutsche Zeitung, was published an article of a travel journalist who is

n April 2007 we received our new, innovative boat: POSEIDON DIVE specially designed for divers,
a 10m Catamaran with 2 x 100 HP 4 stroke outboard engines with a complete roof, 4 entries and exists,
GPS, VHF Marine Radio, Fishfinder and sound system.
The boat can be used for maximal 18 divers.
With proud we can say that POSEIDON DIVE IS THE 1st real dive boat operating in Colombia!

As a continuing effort to promote Colombia as international tourist destination, we
went back to DEMA 2007 in Orlando, Florida,
the biggest trade show of dive professionals in the
world as exhibitor with the support of Proexport Colombia.

were: Laura and Camilo from Proexport, Andres and Camilo from Diving Planet,
Jorge and Alberto from Publifibra, Luisa from Aviatur,
Felipe from Felipe’s Diving, Nena and Max from Poseidon Dive Center

service for our clients: From now on we offer WIFI Internet for clients who come with their
Notebooks.
In February 2008 was held
the biggest IDC ever in the history of Colombia in the city of Medellin. The Course Directors were Ricardo Sanchez and Max. As IDC Staff Instructors
were present: Fernando Cardena, Guillermo Sanchez, Julio Velez, Jorge Sanchez, Lenner
Ospina, Jimmy Bernal, Gina Garcia, Pablo Montoya, Jorge Sanchez, Fausto Moreno
and Juana Perea. The evaluators were Fernando Martins, Claudio Brandileone
and Jose Morera.
Straight after the IDC /
IE in Medellin we headed of to Bogota,
where POSEIDON DIVE CENTER participated in the tourism trade show of
Colombia ( ANATO ) , which was held on February 25th and 26th. As represents of PDC went Nena and Max.
A new IDC was held in Taganga from the 29th
April which finished on the 8th of May. The 1st
Instructor Examination ever held inTaganga began on May 9 and terminated on May 11. All candidates from our Course Director Max passed successfully and we wish the new PADI Instructors all the best for their future within the dive industry.

On June 20 started another IDC in Taganga
which finished on the June 29. The
2nd Instructor Examination held inTaganga began on June 30 and terminated on July 1. Welcome to the new professionals and leaders and we wish them all the best for their future.
